Im now playlisted at Kiss Fm 107.7. The radio is situated in the USA and the Netherlands. I played at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam in 2016 with 2 guitars friends Jan Akkerman and Wiek Hijmans.
1- How long have you been and how's your path until now in the Music Industry???
- I have more or less been a part of the music industry since my school days. I started as a musician in restaurants in my home town of Tromsø north of Norway when I was 16-17 year olds . I have never felt that im a part of the music industry. Norway is a small country with a lot of powerful people who try to control what music the people shoud get exposed to. This powerful group of people actually do their best to turn the music and art in to a product.
I dont play and write my music to entertain the establishment. I play because I want to express my art and to be free from the mainstream - it takes a whole life to become who you are and find your musical DNA. I release some compositions - on my own company OAJ Records. I dont do that to try to reach a huge audience. I release my music for the people who cherish music and art the way I do.
2- What are your biggest achievements???
- The biggest achivments must have been playing concerts across all over the world: Russia- Mexico - USA ( Carnegie Hall - Weill Hall) Sweden - Finland - France - United Arab Emirates - Iceland - Faroe Islands - Scotland - Iceland - China - Japan etc - etc...
3- What's your latest release(s) and project(s) and what can you tell us about them???
- My latest releases are "While I was crossing the bridge" solo guitar with various compositions - both standards and own material
- With both acc. Guitars and electric guitars with various arrangements. I would also like to mention "All or nothing" where I play with a good colleague Tore-Morten Andreassen Figenschow playing on 11-string alto guitar standards and among others David Bowie's "Where are we now" new release "Lullaby of Byrdland" with Tore-Morten contains "Wichita Lineman" by Jim Webb and Shadows' classic Apache. I like the challenges of playing "exhausted" standards in a way that lies in our time. I consider myself today as a musician / composer who expresses myself via my guitars.
4- What are your future plans???
- My future plans go in the direction of guitar and string quartet / quintet with two own compositions "Music For The Silence Minority" for bassoon. - guitar and string quartet and "For Strings Only" for string quintet and guitar and something for Mixed Choir and guitar Tir'd of all these with text by Wiliam Shakespeare sonet nr 69 - all my compositions with lots of opportunities for improvisation.
5- What do you like to tell to your supporters out there???
- Never give up on your dreams - play what you hear and feel in your heart.
